lifesI have compiled a list of my favorite Lifestyle SHOTS from 2012, which includes anything non-music or event related. The list features visually stunning photos that have personal significance in one way or another. Click below to check it out:

#10: This is kind of the fan favorite shot that made the list because it received one of the biggest responses all year via social media. It’s one of those things that you just happen to run across here in NYC and it’s gone by the next day. Very profound formula. Ha!

#9: One of my favorite moments of the year is when I ran in to some Showtime execs and actress Emmy Rossum at the Made in America festival in Philly. I won’t get in to the full conversation, but Ms. Rossum was one of the nicest people I’ve encountered in my JDOTshots travels. This was my favorite out of the shots I took of her and her friends.

#8: For whatever reason, I wound up not having any Memorial Day Weekend plans in 2012 – but that was okay. I had a relaxing weekend, which included a trip to Coney Island to check out the scene. The sheer mass of people per square foot is what I like about this picture. It takes me straight back to Summer.

#7: The Vueve Clicquot Polo Classic was one of the best days of the year: Nice weather, great friends, a classy social scene, and a stunning backdrop. What else can you really say?

#6: I love encountering street art throughout NYC and this is a prime example. Artist Curtis Kulig tagged this little alley in SoHo and I happened to spot it from the street and take a number of photos. love love love this photo.

#5: A perfect representation of Fall with this shot. I love this setting with the leaves and stone fence. This was taken at Storm King park just north of the city.

#4: A picturesque scene as I took side excursion to see Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous ‘Falling Water’ home outside of Pittsburgh, PA. It’s something you just need to see for yourself to truly appreciate the art and architecture of the structure. My favorite shot of the trip:

#3: I call this one “The Edge.” Why? Simply put, it’s the very edge of Niagara Falls (on the Canadian Side). I like this particular shot because it exudes a serene quality from something that’s utterly harsh and intimidating up close. A smooth and glassy edge turns violent…quickly.

#2: This had to be included at the top of list due to the vivid imagery. No editing on this photo. I remember clearly waking up to this sky on a crisp Pocono morning and being amazed at the colors. The photo doesn’t even do the sun rise justice, but it gives you a good idea:

#1: Number one on the list had to be something Hurricane Sandy related. This is a perfect representation of the immediate damage to the city – the completely flooded Battery Park tunnel – but, unfortunately, was not even close to the worst of it around the surrounding areas outside of the city. By far the most memorable aspect of 2012.
