Notes: While I did catch the Lawnparties event two years ago with my friends Chip tha Ripper and Dot da Genius performing, I was angry at myself for missing last year. With that said, thanks to the help of some friends, I was able to stop by and catch Rae, Childish and the Blue Scholars. One artist I did want to see that I, unfortunately, missed was Action Bronson.
I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd this year – everyone seemed to be in to the music, whether they knew the artist or not. As the headliner, Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) drew the largest crowd, but both Raekwon and Seattle’s Blue Scholars each had as live an audience as if they were performing in their home cities. Good times had by all, as you can see in the photos above.
