Books for Africa partnered with We Bee Spelling for a very special #GivingTuesday 21+ Spelling Bee Fundraiser at Bowery Electric to support the Library Project. A few shots from the night below:

In rural Ghana, only .06% of families have children’s books in their homes. In an effort to bring more books and educational resources to these remote areas, Books for Africa Library Project started in 1997 and has set up 62 libraries and shipped over 350,000 books to rural Ghana. BFALP’s upcoming goals are to add more African books to the libraries, hire local representatives to be an on-the-ground resource for the libraries year-round, provide training to the librarians, and start library programs such as reading clubs to incentivize communities to actively engage the libraries’ resources.
