You’ll want to check my SHOTS / show review below and see why RaVaughn is next up in the music industry:
What: Hot 97’s ‘Who’s Next’ NYC Showcase
Where: NYC
Venue: SOB’s
When: February 21, 2013
Who: RaVaughn, Lenny S., Ty Ty, Ne-Yo, Angie Martinez, Compound Ent. Team, Columbia Records/Sony Team
Notes: Following a high profile appearance on 106 & Park and a 6pm launch of her music video for her hit single with Wale, “Better Be Good,” the Columbia Records/Compound U. signee showed the crowd her style and confidence last night at NYC venue SOB’s.
Proudly rocking her new Compound dog tags, given to her by her mentor Ne-Yo, RaVaughn showed us what she’s all about with her live renditions of “It’s Over,” “Better Be Good,” and more.
My personal favorite – the deceptively titled – “Best Friend” was a highlight for me. For “Best Friend,” she chose an unsuspecting male from the audience to come up on stage and be serenaded by her vocals. I cannot confirm, but having noticed how the guy was staring passionately at RaVaughn….I’m fairly certain he fell in love on stage.
One of the best assets to a RaVaughn performance is her band, which adds a special element to the live shows. However, THE BEST part about a RaVaughn show is the voice of RaVaughn! In an industry where singers hide behind autotune, background vocal assistance and more, this lovely young lady can actually sing with the best of them. Wow.
At Hot 97’s ‘Who’s Next’ concert, RaVaughn certainly solidified her spot in the industry – and it’s just the beginning.
